Sustainable Forestry Initiative I Logger Education I Visual Quality
One of the best ways to ensure environmentally sensitive timber harvests is to
educate the people who harvest the trees. For this reason, Bennett Lumber requires
all of its loggers to become accredited with the American Logging Conferences Pro-
Logger training program. Completion of the University of Idaho's Logger Education
to Advance Professionalism (
LEAP) course and the state's Best Management
Practices training course is mandatory for all accredited loggers.
These courses teach loggers
fundamental concepts related to
forest ecology and water quality
issues and the proper
management practices to employ
to assure protection of forest
ecosystems.
